Can’t Afford A Personal Coach? Coach Yourself to Success
It would be nice if we could just go out and hire a coach that would teach us how to be successful, wouldn’t it? There are many success coaches out there but many of them want a salary most of us can’t afford to pay. So, for most of us, the alternative is to become our own coach.
Here are a few things we can do to coach ourselves to success:
1. Read at least one hour a day about your chosen field or area of interest. The public library is full of books on every subject. By reading only one hour a day, you will become an expert in only three years.
Before you leave the library, check out some audios to listen to on your commute On average we spend 125 hours a year in our cars. Turn your car or ipod into a university education.
2. Attend seminars, workshops and courses. Other people have put in hundreds or thousands of hours to distill information. You can take advantage of their efforts. Follow those who have successfully gone before you.
3. Keep a success journal. There is no right or wrong way to keep a journal. Record what ever seems important to you. We learn from our past. Write it down and review it often. You won’t believe how many solutions come to you just by refocusing.
4. Set goals. Make a plan. Actually sit down and write out what you want to achieve. Then write down the steps you need to take to make the plan a reality. Long term goals are reached by reaching a lot of short term goals to get there.
5. Take good care of yourself. Eat healthy and exercise regularly. Drink plenty of water. You will achieve a lot more success in any field if you have a healthy body.
6. Create a support system of positive associations. Family, friends and co-workers need to positively support your efforts or you must reduce your exposure to their negativity. Operating in a vacuum, cut off from others is not only mentally unhealthy; it will give you a stunted point of view.
Practice these strategies and you will find yourself rapidly heading in the direction of your goals even without the benefits of a personal success coach.
