Goal Setting Strategy – Make Money Online

How to Really Make Money Online: Goal Setting Worksheet

Accomplishing a goal can be a very difficult if you don’t go about achieving it the right way.

With the information overload on the Internet, regarding how to make money online, this is especially true.

Many people see the dream of $10,000 in a week, without a realistic plan on how to get there.

Have you ever started an online business, only to get frustrated when you can’t produce results as promised? I have!

What changed my success was starting with a goal in mind that included a start date and end date.

Let’s look at something we all can relate to, diet and exercise. We start with a goal in mind, for example, to lose eight pounds. Let’s say, we’ve decided to workout five days a week for one month and we are starting next Monday.

This is a great example of a way to set a beginning and end date of a goal. A great way to keep track of this is to have a goal setting worksheet filled out in advance, gyms and all types of diets offer these worksheets.

Where we can write down our goal, track our progress, and set an end date with a particular result in mind. Yet, for most of us, when it comes to an online business, we expect to get started and get immediate results, and then get discouraged when we don’t.

Do you know the feeling? Me too, I’ve been there and done that!

How can we change that? Simply by creating a goal setting worksheet. This is essentially a worksheet that outlines the goal and how it’s going to be achieved. What we should be doing in order to be achieving the goal and on what days those things should be completed.

On the worksheet you can also include reminders of things that will detract you from accomplishing your goal. This wouldn’t be you of course, but let’s say you want to increase the presence of you and your businesses online brand.

The goal could be: 30 minutes daily on social media updates from seven-thirty to eight PM. The little reminder could be: ONLY ten minutes on Facebook!

The challenge with an online business is the Internet opens you up to a world of possibilities, but you need to stay on task to achieve the results you want. It’s like keeping Twinkies in the nightstand when you’re hitting the gym five days a week!

See, I know how you think.

“But those little golden cakes are so good.” Focus! These lists of what to do and what not to do can greatly help you to stay focused on your true objectives. I’ll be the first to admit, it’s not easy, and apps like Google+ will only increase the temptation to lose track of time online.

So be specific in what you want to accomplish, and interruptions that can take you off task. Simply put, don’t keep Twinkies in the nightstand!

Additionally, a goal setting worksheet can help make sure that everything is completed on time. A great way to measure progress is to set small goals that lead up to the overall goal. You don’t expect to lose forty pounds the first time you step foot in the gym. So why would you expect to make $10,000 your first week online?

By assigning completion dates on the worksheet, you will be able to include checkpoints for accomplishing small milestones. A realistic milestone or short-term goal could be that you want to have a functioning online business in twenty-one days.

Five days after that you want to make your first dollar. This will help provide patience and discipline in reaching your ultimate goal. More importantly, it will help to celebrate early success on your path to massive success.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen hundreds of people give up when the success they were looking for online required just a bit more patience.

The last step is to put the plan into action. Awesome! You now have a plan to reach your goal. It is important that the goal setting worksheet should be followed at all times, and it should be kept where you can view it daily in order to track your progress and remind yourself what you want to accomplish.

If you go old school and keep it on paper, and make a couple of copies. Keep one at work, and carry one with you. If you’re always on a computer, or have a smartphone or tablet, create a worksheet you can access from anywhere.

Cross off or delete each milestone as it is accomplished, and please celebrate! Give yourself that hour to feed your Facebook addiction, create your Google+ profile, eat that Twinkie! This is an excellent idea because it will promote confidence that you have made it one step closer to achieving your main goal, whether that goal is updating your blog from the islands or making enough extra money to help pay the bills.
