Goals Need A Specific Plan Of Action

planning-aheadEver find yourself waking up one morning realizing that even after all the work and effort you have put into your dreams, you aren’t even one step closer to any of them?

And… Poof! Your enthusiam disappears into thin air. You wonder where are you headed and you don’t really know.

Where have all your dreams gone? Placed on the back burner somehow…

You thought that you were sufficiently commited.

.
Many of us don’t know our specific purpose or direction in life. We live with so many dreams inside us and somehow we keep finding ourselves finding excuses to delay the pursuit of our goals. We offer up so many excuses: bills to pay, family to take care of, work to finish, etc.

Could that be what has happened? Too many excuses and too many delaying tactics? Procrastination? In the end, when we see that we haven’t accomplished as much as we thought, we have no one to blame but us.

We don’t want to live life this way. But then, who does?

I have been there, done that. If that is your situation, first remember that all is not lost. Everyone gets off track time and again. You get caught up in life’s little happenings and you forget to live in the moment, you aren’t enjoying the now.

The reason for all the confusion may lie on the fact that your dreams may not be as well-defined as you need them to be. You must be specific about what you want, and why you want it. The “WHY” is critical to your success.

So, the problem here could be lack of clarity and concentration of power. No definite plan to follow. No burning desire to achieve. Clarity of thought is necessary to know how to accomplish what you want. Get specific.

work-and-success-quoteCreate a step-by-step plan that spells out what you have to do to get to the end. Start right from where you are today. Sharpen your focus on what you need, to get to where you want to be. Draw a map, a work flow sheet, create milestones and deadlines to monitor progress. Spell it out.

When you experience setbacks, you need to know how to deal with each of them. After all, nothing in life is perfect. Plan for these obstacles in advance. They will inevitably come up when you are striving to be the best you can be. You can be certain of that. It is absolutely normal to face roadblocks on the path to mastery.

You may not want to believe this but there are some things that are way beyond your control, and if you continue to live life going a step forward and then two steps back without changing something, you will get further away from your dreams, not closer.

Accept that fact and be comfortable with the idea that you cannot control all circumstances. What you can control though is how you respond to them. Make a plan how you will deal with unforeseen circumstances in order to move forward.

You can sometimes fall flat on your face. It happens, just remember it’s not the end of the world.  Get up, keep moving towards what you want, and then come up with an even better plan.

Practice positive self talk, like the pros do. Be your own biggest supporter, the person who cheers the loudest during game time. Be on the winning team. You can do it.
